Balcony Styling Consultation
The Brief
For a 12 m² balcony of a one-bedroom apartment in Cologne's Südstadt, several moodboards were developed as part of an interior design styling consultation. The brief was to create an atmospheric outdoor area with seating for two, harmoniously combining functionality and a residential feel.

The Concept Variants
Several moodboards were developed, including ones in the client's favourite colours, burgundy and olive. Both variants understand the balcony as a natural extension of the interior.
The olive direction suggests a calm, garden-leaning mood; the burgundy direction proposes a bolder, more theatrical variant.

Material and Colour Direction
The focus is on space-saving furniture, a balanced material and colour composition and natural surfaces with warm textures. Carefully placed accents give the outdoor area a calm, inviting atmosphere with an urban and contemporary character.
To make the small balcony feel visually larger, a mirror is integrated into the design. It reflects the surrounding greenery and enhances the sense of space, light and connection to nature.

The Outcome
The finished moodboards visualise two clearly developed styling directions for the balcony and serve as a concrete basis for furniture and material selection. The integrated mirror makes the 12 m² outdoor area feel noticeably more generous and connects it visually with the surrounding greenery.
