Outdoor Kitchen Design

New-build villa
Project

The Brief

For the outdoor kitchen of a new-build villa in Jávea, a holistic interior design concept was developed that brings together architecture, function and Mediterranean lifestyle. The design focuses on a clear formal language, weather-resistant materials and a high-quality integration into the villa's exterior. The goal was a modern outdoor kitchen that works as a fully fledged extension of the living space.

The Spatial Concept

A timber canopy spans the outdoor kitchen and the adjacent dining area. Arched niches in the back wall pick up the villa's architectural vocabulary and create a clear connection to the building. Kitchen run, dining table and water feature together form one continuous exterior zone.

Materials & Finishes

The kitchen run is built in dark walnut fronts and translates the interior's wood theme into a weatherproof outdoor version. The Big Green Egg ceramic grill is integrated directly into the kitchen run as the functional centrepiece. Timber canopy and rattan pendant lights set the vertical accents; beige stone and warm mineral tones carry the horizontal plane.

Cacti, olive trees and Mediterranean planting frame the exterior and tie it into the Costa Blanca vegetation.

Atmosphere & Detail

The timber canopy throws beautiful shadows during the day and keeps the exterior usable through the hottest part of summer. In the evening, the rattan pendants glow warmly above the dining table and the arched niches become indirect light sources.

The Outcome

Kitchen, dining area and small pool come together as one connected Mediterranean open-air living space. The arched niches tie the exterior to the villa, while the walnut kitchen run with Big Green Egg grill forms the functional centre.
